Edo Period Wakizashi
Kunimishi
The Kunishige - attributed to Kunimishi of Horikawa Kunihiro Edo period Wakizashi made circa 1624 by the well known swordmaker of the period, Kunishige from the Yamashiro province, school of Horikawa (Shoshu Den). The Wakizashi's of that period had a blade length between that of our current day Tantos and Wakizashis. This blade is 15 inches with an overall sword length of 20 inches. This is an amazingly beautiful edo period blade at almost 400 years old. Polzien, who is a stickler for historical accuracy, has provided the correct fittings (koshirai) for the period.
